"Hashiri-komi" 2001.07.24

They play drums on the dome shaped bridge, which is the entrance to Warei shrine.

The floats welcoming the sacred palanquins. They are made by volunteer groups.

I remember there was more floats a few years ago. I`m afraid they can`t afford to join a carnival in these depressed times.

Arrangement of guide to Warei shrine, for sacred palanquins coming up in the river.

Three sacred palanquins came up, and surrounded a bamboo pole. At the top of it, tied a writings of Shinto prayer.

A man climbed the pole and got the writings.

Then the palanaqins and the floats go out from the river, and run into the shrine one after another.
"Hashiri-komi" means "running in (to the shrine)". (They don`t heve run-in.)
